The Hyssop Box

Families in my town celebrate harvest season with a Hyssop Box. If you visited, you'd find one in every house. Some people use handcrafted wooden boxes with ornate decorations. Others use the drawer of a side table. Regardless of what a Hyssop Box looks like, the ritual remains the same. Ask a question. Give a gift. If your offer is accepted, Mr. Hyssop will give you an answer. I would be happy to show you how it works on the traditional date, the evening of the autumnal equinox.

The Game

The Hyssop Box is a folk horror LARP designed for three or more players—including the person running the game.  The game lasts for two hours. Play in person or as an online larp on Discord.

Warnings

The Hyssop Box explores family and cultural traditions, especially those involving uncomfortable elements like "good-natured" deception. Each session differs, but you may expect the game to contain elements of magical thinking, religious beliefs, unfairness, possession, and death.
